Welcome to Journal to Wellness, the only online journaling resource that offers you personalized, ongoing coaching, one-on-one mentoring and individualized advice. My name is Kathleen Clohessy, and I am the founder of our company and the major contributor to the site.
Many years ago I developed a rare condition called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, a disabling illness that causes chronic, intractable pain. A healthy, athletic woman in the prime of life, I was completely unprepared for my illness and disability. I had made a career of helping others cope with tragedy and loss, but I could not begin to figure out how to repair my own broken life.
In the years since I first became ill, I have learned more than I ever could have imagined about the process of healing grief and loss. I studied the work of some of the world’s most brilliant scientists, teachers, authors and spiritual guides, including Stephen and Ondrea Levine, Scott Peck, Caroline Myss, Candice Pert, Tara Brach, John and Patrice Robson, Andrew Schneider, and countless others, and developed a journaling practice that gradually helped me to rebuild my life. Through my personal and professional writing, I developed clarity and insight into the nature of my suffering and the unconscious programming that was maintaining my pain. This gradually evolved into a set of beliefs, principles, ideals and behaviors that allowed me to heal not just physically, but mentally, emotionally and spiritually as well.
Journal to Wellness is the outcome of my years of personal healing and my wish to share what I have learned with others who are struggling with the same kinds of issues that I once faced. To be clear, I am not an expert in the strictest sense of the word. I do not have an advanced degree in psychology or counseling, or a slew of confusing letters appended to my name. But I know that I have much to offer, and, most importantly, much to share. I have been given a second chance at life, something that many people never receive and many others simply do not know how to accept. This is my way of re-paying the universe for that gift.
